Municipality of Artemida

Ano Lehonia, the centre of the Municipality, is just 12km from Volos.
The village is a riot of flowers and decorative plants, and is famous for its nurseries.
It is from Ano Lehonia that the legendary Pelion miniature railway begins its journey, passing through the stations of Ano Gatzea, Aghia Triada, Aghios Athanasios Pinakaton, the village of Argyreika Vyzitsas and terminating at Milies. For 76 years, from 1895 to 1971, the little train climbed the mountain, carrying passengers and goods, making a decisive contribution to the rapid development of the region.
You should also visit the Kokoslis Tower (19th century), which housed the region's first silk factory; then take a swim from the beautiful beaches of Malaki, Kato Lehonia or Platanidia.
The village of Aghios Lavrentios - it takes its name from the monastery of the same name in the vicinity - has maintained its traditional character with the cobbled paths, fountains and old stone houses.
Likewise the village of Aghios Vlasios, about 16km from Volos.
